Exercise Science Major

Overview

The Exercise Science Major will provide you with a deep understanding of human physiology, biomechanics, adaptations to exercise to body systems, and research methodologies. Upon successful completion of this major, you will be well-equipped for graduate programs and careers in exercise physiology, athletic training, physical therapy, and research.

Learning Goals

Upon successful completion of major, you will:

  • Understand human movement, anatomy, and physiology as they relate to exercise
  • Apply scientific principles to assess and improve physical performance and rehabilitation
  • Communicate effectively with clients and healthcare professionals in diverse settings
  • Prepare for advanced education or careers in clinical exercise science, therapy, or research

Required Coursework

The Exercise Science Major requires a total of 53-54 credit hours (23-24 upper level hours; 30 lower level hours). Refer to the current course catalog for the complete list of courses required for this major.
