Student Opportunities in Communication Arts

Students who graduate with degrees in communication arts get to complete a senior seminar where they can dive deep into a topic they love. Some students choose to cast, direct, and produce one-act plays. Others design projects that match their personal interests.

Some recent projects have included:

  • Analyzing how Jesus is shown in popular culture
  • Making a promotional video for the college admissions department
  • Running a theater workshop for inmates at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility
  • Studying the communication strategies of the “truth” anti-tobacco campaign

With help from teachers and alumni, communication arts students have also landed internships at various places.

  • New York Film Academy at Universal Studios, Los Angeles
  • Rhodes Film and Video, Newton
  • KWCH-TV, Wichita
  • CG Post, Inc., Wichita
  • Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago
  • KTQW Channel 49, Wichita
  • Novartis Pharmaceuticals
