We’re Here for You
College is a time of growth, discovery, and new experiences — through academics, athletics, the arts, clubs, leadership opportunities, and more.
Along the way, challenges and stress are a normal part of the college experience. The Counseling Center is here to support you.
The Counseling Center provides free, confidential, and nonjudgmental counseling in a welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds and identities.
If you’d like to learn more or connect with support, contact the Student Mental Health and Wellness Counselor. You can also stop by during weekly drop-in hours or schedule an appointment online.
If you are having a life-threatening mental health emergency, call 911 now and they will work with you to get you the help you need.
If you need immediate crisis support, call or text 988, or call the local 24/7 Prairie View crisis hotline for immediate help – (800) 362-0180.

- Our drop-in/same day service visits typically last 15-20 minutes.
- You do not need to schedule, just come in!
- Drop-in hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
The Counseling Center is in the basement level of the Will Academic Center, Room #129.

If you are having life-threatening suicidal thoughts or thoughts of harming others, call or text 988, or contact the Prairie View Crisis line for 24/7 help, (800) 362-0180.
What to expect on your first visit
When you arrive, you will find intake forms/paperwork available to fill out. These forms gather some basic information about you, and also inform you about the Center’s policies including things like attendance and confidentiality.

You can sit in the Counseling Center lobby to work on the forms, and your counselor will get you at your appointment time.

You will meet with your counselor in a comfortable, private office so that you may speak confidentially.

During your first session, your Counselor will ask you about why you scheduled an appointment, and then will listen and offer guidance to talk about your concerns. They will learn more about you and your history to inform the plan for how to move forward.
Same Day Service
The Counseling Center offers same day service hours, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m. We call this time Let’s Talk.
Visits are 15-20 minutes. You do not need to schedule before coming in.
Maybe you have a question or concern. Maybe you have an issue that just needs quick guidance. Maybe you want to feel things out before scheduling an appointment.
When you arrive, you will fill out a one-page form before talking with a counselor.
