Vital Role

BCWA supports Bethel College and its students, faculty and staff through special projects, educational events and donations. BCWA has been a vital part of the Bethel community since 1934. A small council of Newton-area women provides leadership and coordination.

Fundraising

Popular BCWA fundraising efforts include Market in the Round at Fall Festival and a Christmas market as part of the annual “Five Places of Christmas,” featuring homemade crafts and baked goods. Many hand-made, Bethel-themed, and/or one-of-a-kind items are available at any time at bcwamarketonline. Purchased items can be picked up locally or mailed.

Projects

Recent BCWA projects include

  • redecorating in the Administration Building and Haury Hall
  • purchasing classroom furnishings and supplies
  • providing gift cards, meals or snacks to students, faculty and staff, and parents of incoming freshmen

In addition, each year, BCWA invites nominations from faculty and staff and then sponsors on-campus presentations as part of the Carolyn Schultz Speaker Fund.

Giving

Since 2015, BCWA has given more than $86,000 to Bethel College through projects, sponsorships and contributions to the Bethel College Fund.
