Truth, Community Healing, and Transformation

Truth, Community Healing and Transformation (TCHT) is a comprehensive, national, and community-based process to bring about transformational and sustainable change. Originally developed as a collaboration between the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the AAC&U, the TCHT framework serves as a model for organizations and higher education institutions to address the historic and contemporary effects of a false belief in a hierarchy of human value in the U.S.

Our History

Bethel College was named a Campus Center in Fall 2021.

Our Vision

As a TCHT Campus Center, Bethel College seeks to identify opportunities for and to provide spaces for healthier conversations among students, professionals, and community members. With the TCHT framework as our foundation, we seek to openly identify structural barriers that are implicit in the institution, and to propose solutions for holistic change. The Bethel College Office of Culture and Belonging is committed to carrying out this effort.

Our Plan

While still a new and developing Campus Center, the Bethel College Belonging Team has created an Action Plan to guide this type of transformational change campus-wide.

Core Goals

  • Work towards narrative change at Bethel College through building a knowledge base of the TCHT work & vision
  • Create and provide space on campus for Circles of Belonging where truth, community healing, and transformation are welcome for all constituents of the college
  • Incorporate TCHT concepts and practices into curricular and cocurricular content
  • Implement new initiatives that empower all areas of our campus to identify and dismantle any implicit and/or explicit discriminatory practices

JOIN US!

One of the core tenets for implementing this kind of action at Bethel includes a commitment to community healing and relationship-building. One of the primary tools for engaging in this is by participating in a Circle of Belonging. Contact our team to sign up!
