My educational journey was shaped by two remarkable institutions in my hometown: Newton High School and Bethel College. While each offered a unique experience, they shared something that made a lasting difference – the people. At both NHS and BC, I was fortunate to encounter teachers, coaches, and staff members who took the time to mentor me, challenge me, and invest in my growth. Their belief in me helped shape not only my education but also the person I would become.

Growing up in a small community, I learned that relationships matter. Newton High School provided a strong academic and personal foundation that prepared me well for the opportunities ahead. At Bethel College, I found another welcoming community that encouraged me to think deeply, communicate thoughtfully, and remain curious about the world. The liberal arts approach instilled in me the value of lifelong learning and reinforced the importance of using one’s gifts in service to others.

Looking back, I realize that my education was about much more than earning degrees. It was about the people who invested in me, the values they modeled, and the lifelong commitment to learning and service that continues to guide my work and my life today.
