Where We Are

Plane, train or automobile can bring you to Bethel’s park-like campus.

You’ll find us nestled next to Newton, a town whose railroad heritage makes rail travel to and from a very real possibility. Yet, just minutes from Wichita – or a few hours from Kansas City – you’ll have easy access to large metro airports. Or choose to road trip your way to campus – we’re just off the highway.

You’re invited any time to attend fine arts events or sporting competitions, walk among the historic limestone and brick buildings and on the trails surrounding campus, play disc golf, or grow your own produce in the community garden.

Newton is a town of around 18,000, located just 30 minutes north of Wichita, the largest city in Kansas. The city was incorporated in 1872 at the western terminal of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and the railhead of the Chisholm Trail, a cattle trail that ended in Abilene (current Highway K-15 follows the Chisholm Trail’s route). Thus, the history of Newton has always been tied to the railroad.

Newton, the Harvey County seat, offers an ideal family environment with quiet neighborhoods and an assortment of youth recreational activities. A drive through the heart of the community reveals a city with pride and vision. Historical buildings that have been adapted for modern commercial enterprises are sprinkled throughout the community. Visible signs of steady new growth are evidenced by the successful commerce taking hold. Newton residents benefit from a lifestyle that values sound education, progressive health care and safe neighborhoods.

North Newton, with a population of around 1,500, is located directly north of Newton on Highway K-15, North Newton is a largely residential community. In addition to Bethel College, the other major institution in North Newton is the Kidron Bethel retirement community.

About Bethel
