These options are not mutually exclusive. You may choose whatever combination of options that is best for you. If you wish to have an incident investigated and resolved by Bethel College, students and employees should contact the Title IX Coordinator. Bethel College procedures can be explained in more detail at that time. Those who wish incidents to be handled criminally should contact local law enforcement. A campus official will be available to accompany students in making such reports, if desired.

File a report

  • Notifying Bethel College there was an incident but do not want to pursue an investigation at this time.
  • This will allow you to receive supportive measures such as medical help, counseling, academic support, housing support, no contact order, etc.

File a formal complaint

  • Notifying Bethel college there was an incident and asking them to utilize the Equal Opportunity, Harassment, and Nondiscrimination Procedure Policy.
  • This would include investigation, hearing and possible sanctions.
  • Receive supportive measures such as medical help, counseling, academic support, housing support, no contact order, etc.

File a police report

  • Notify police of the criminal nature of the incident.
  • Initiate a criminal process against the perpetrator.

Informal resolution

This process requires the agreement of both parties and the Title IX Coordinator to engage in a mediation style process to resolve the issue.

  • This option is not available in all situations.
  • Receive supportive measures such as medical help, counseling, academic support, housing support, no contact order, etc.

Nothing

The Complainant may choose to do nothing at this time until they are ready.
