Bethel College welcomes you and embraces all ethnic backgrounds. Approximately 30 percent of Bethel’s students are students of color, making Bethel historically the most diverse Mennonite college in North America. The ideas, cultures, practices and religions brought by each Bethel student enhances the entire Bethel College experience from the classroom to residence halls and spiritual life to campus organizations, and the Multicultural Club also sponsors social and educational events.
One of the most important roles of the Multicultural Life Program is to introduce students to the diverse communities in Newton and Wichita. Whether you are trying to find a place to get your hair cut, a church that suits your needs or a store where you can buy Spanish-language greeting cards, we can help you.
Multicultural students may share their cultures on campus and in the community through the Multicultural Student Union, Fall Festival, area schools and churches and the international student convocation. Host families provide you with a home away from home, entertain you for meals, give you an opportunity to periodically get away from campus on weekends, and welcome your family when they visit you at Bethel.
The Department of Student Activities and Engagement partners with students, faculty, and staff throughout campus to support and enhance the Bethel College community. We are dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment on campus that complements the academic experience, connects and engages all students with the Bethel College community, and provides opportunities for ongoing personal and professional development.
