Instrumental Music

Bethel College has a strong music tradition.

Students have the opportunity to play in a variety of small and large instrumental ensembles as well as to study privately with excellent faculty. In addition to on-campus performance opportunities, Bethel students often perform in various settings throughout the Newton and Wichita community. Recent graduates of Bethel College have gone on to great success founded upon their significant musical experience in the Bethel College Wind Ensemble and Orchestra.

Bethel College Wind Ensemble

Bethel College Wind Ensemble is an auditioned ensemble that performs a wide range of wind ensemble repertoire including classic band music, contemporary works and chamber music. In addition to regular on-campus performances, the Wind Ensemble has received invitations to perform at the KMEA convention and has commissioned works by leading contemporary composers. In recent years the group has also worked with several significant guest artists, including Frank L. Battisti, Michael Kallstrom, Michelle Price and Steven Danyew.

Bethel College Philharmonia Orchestra

Bethel College Philharmonia Orchestra is an auditioned ensemble that is open to all students and community members. This group performs large orchestra repertoire and provides students with an opportunity work with faculty members in a performance and rehearsal setting. The group performs regularly on campus for the annual Masterworks concert, opera performances and symphonic concerts.
