NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – The Bethel College athletic department launched a major upgrade of its website, www.bethelthreshers.com, Sept. 15.

“Users will immediately notice a vast difference from the old website,” said Joshua Booth, sports information director, “and we hope you are able to enjoy all of the great features that have come with the update.”

“As we strive to enhance Bethel College athletics within everything we are doing, our website is a large component of this process,” said Athletic Director Tony Hoops. “I’m extremely pleased to release this new website to our Bethel stakeholders.

“We know that for many, this site is their main source of communication with all of our programs. The enhanced features will provide current students, parents, alumni and new recruits a great opportunity to access all the information that makes Bethel athletics special.”

One of the most immediately noticeable of those features is the header images. The new Bethel Threshers logo stands out in the center, with a continuous video of a wind-blown wheat field to its left, and rotating images of Thresher student-athletes to its right.

“I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out,” said Booth. “Unfortunately, [former student-athletes]Trey Ronnebaum and Nadya Bucklin had to give up their prime real-estate on the old header image.”

He continued, “When I took over this position [a year ago], one of my first tasks I wanted to accomplish was a redesign of the website.

“Our logo is unique to say the least, and I think adding the wheat blowing in the wind nicely complements the threshing stone and the history of what Bethel College is founded on. It also adds a flair to the website few others have.”

Scrolling down on the homepage brings users to an updated news article section, as well as a more informative and updated schedule module. The sport-specific schedules have also been updated, and feature more information than previously.

“Our continued partnership with [the vendor] SID Help was tremendous during this redesign process,” Hoops said. “I appreciate all the work Josh Booth did for this website in working throughout the past three months to make our website a top-of-the-line feature for all our programs.”

Other new features of the homepage include “Thresher Spotlight” and “Recent Recruits” sections.

“Both modules put a ‘spotlight’ on current and future Thresher student-athletes,” explained Booth. “That is something our old website lacked, and I think these two areas will be great in promoting the stories and faces that make up Bethel College athletics.”

Another feature for users is the ability to find stats right at their fingertips. Game recaps will include a box score from the contest integrated into the article.

Updated player profiles on team rosters will also have direct links to the articles when a player is mentioned, as well as their seasonal stats.

“Tony Hoops knew this was a project we needed to jump on right away when he took over his position this summer,” Booth said, “and I am thankful for the support he gave me during this process. We also would like to thank VP for marketing and communications Lori Livengood for her input and support.”

The other major upgrade that is part of the new website athletic-specific apps for mobile phones, still in the testing phase.

“We highly encourage our users to download these apps, as they embrace much of this website redesign into their operations, and make it extremely easy to stream Thresher athletic events right on your phone,” Booth said.

An announcement will be made when the apps are ready for launch to both Android and iOS systems.
