NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference has released the selections for this season’s KCAC Football Preseason Team, including four Bethel College players, two offensive and two defensive.

The four are seniors Michael Bell, Wichita, Jariah Booker, Oroville, California, and Montero DuBose, Indianapolis, along with sophomore Broderick Green, Grand Prairie, Texas.

Bell will be among those leading the charge on the defensive line. He earned All-KCAC 2nd Team honors last season, tallying 41 total tackles as a defensive end, and finishing second on the team with 3.5 sacks.

As 1st Team All-KCAC in 2016, Booker is at the head of the Thresher defense. He led the way with 70 tackles last season, and kept the opposing backfields in check with 12.5 tackles for loss.

With eight of Bethel’s 11 starters from 2016’s nationally ranked defense back this season, Bell, Booker and their returning teammates should set the tone for 2017.

DuBose, a 2016 wide receiver and return specialist, enters his senior season as one of the team’s leaders in receiving. His 27 catches a year ago led Bethel’s returners, as did his 8.5 yards per punt return average.

Green is the fresh face on this list. A 210-pound fullback, he will look to make his presence felt early this year, hopefully starting Sept. 2 in the Threshers’ home opener against Dordt.

Bethel College ranks at No. 1 in College Consensus’ ranking of Kansas colleges and universities, and is the only Kansas private college listed in the Forbes.com analysis of top colleges and universities, for 2017-18. The four-year liberal arts college is affiliated with Mennonite Church USA. For more information, see www.bethelks.edu.

In sports, Bethel competes within the 12-school KCAC, and the NAIA For more information, see www.bethelthreshers.com.
