NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has named 467 women’s track and field (indoor and outdoor) student-athletes and 395 in softball as 2017 Daktronics All-America Scholar-Athletes – including five from Bethel College.

Graduating seniors Katelyn Fatten, Riverside, California, and Bryna Rietcheck, Bavaria, in track and field, and Trista Rich, Junction City, in softball, made the list.

So did rising seniors Jeni Reichenberger, Wichita, and Alyssa Sullivan, Kansas City, Kansas.

This was Fatten’s second time in the 2016–17 school year to be named an Academic All-American – she made the list in the fall as a member of Bethel’s women’s cross-country team. It was Rich’s second year to be named in softball.

The award was Rietcheck’s first during her four years as a Thresher. It was the first year of eligibility for Reichenberger and Sullivan.

To be named an NAIA Daktronics All-America Scholar Athlete, a student must be nominated by her/his coach or sports information director, must hold a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale and must be at least a junior in academic standing.
