I love the community here at Bethel. I knew I’d have great classes, but I never thought I would stumble upon a whole new family when I came to college. You can count on everyone to lend a helping hand.

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – When the Bethel College football program’s statistical records were updated recently, one player who’s now a junior found he had a record – set when he was a freshman.

As a freshman, Robert Smith, Lakeland, Florida, had a 97-yard kickoff return against Sterling College in 2014 that is now known to be the longest in the Threshers’ history.

“I have been digging in the history and statistical records for the football team, and have updated it all to include all completed seasons in the program,” said Joshua Booth, Bethel’s sports information director. “That’s how I found out about Robert Smith breaking the kickoff return record.”

The most recent team record is from just this year, and also came in a game against Sterling. Although Bethel lost the Oct. 15 game, the team scored 56 points, the most by a Thresher offense in program history.

The updated football stats can be viewed at www.bethelthreshers.com/f/Football_Statistics.php.
