Nursing students inducted into honor society

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Bethel College seniors took part in the induction ceremony for the student nurses’ honor society.

The induction for the Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Epsilon Gamma Chapter-at-Large was at Wichita State University Nov. 12.

The speaker was Dr. Sandra Bibb, dean of the College of Health Professions at WSU.

In addition to Bethel and WSU, the schools that are part of this chapter are Newman University, Southwestern College and Tabor College.

Criteria for invitation into STTI is completion of a minimum of half the nursing curriculum, a minimum 3.0 GPA and a position in the top 35 percent of the nursing class.

Eight Bethel seniors received their Sigma Theta Tau cords: Stephanie Duncan, North Newton; Hailey Heide, Wichita; Olivia Leif, Concordia; Tana Myers, McPherson; Shannon Neifert, Pratt; Holly Peters, Hesston; Bryna Rietcheck, Bavaria; and Melissa Wimer, Smolan.

Bethel College is the only private college in Kansas listed in the analysis of top colleges and universities, the Washington Monthly National Universities-Liberal Arts section and the National Liberal Arts College category of U.S. News & World Report, all for 2016–17.
