NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – The Bethel College Wind Ensemble will welcome the 4th annual Honor Band to campus Nov. 18-19.
After a day-long workshop on Saturday, this group of top high school instrumentalists from around the region will perform Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in Krehbiel Auditorium in Luyken Fine Arts Center on the Bethel campus.
The Bethel Wind Ensemble and the Mid-Kansas Jazz Ensemble (MKJE), an auditioned group of local high school musicians, will also be featured in the program, which is free and open to the public.
Adam Fontana, Bethel director of instrumental music, directs the Wind Ensemble and will lead the Honor Band workshop. James Pisano, Bethel director of jazz studies, directs MKJE.
The jazz group’s program will be “But Not for Me” by George Gershwin, arranged by Bob Mintzer; “Doozy” by Benny Carter; “Beneath the Veiled Moon” by Scott Ninmer; and “The Road Not Taken” by Daren Jenkins.
