NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Poet and publisher Abigail Cloud will be the visiting writer at Bethel College March 17-18.
Cloud will give a public reading of her poetry March 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Administration Building chapel.
She will speak in convocation March 18 at 11 a.m. in Krehbiel Auditorium in Luyken Fine Arts Center on “From the Editor’s Desk: Publishing Tales from Mid-American Review.”
Cloud is on the creative writing faculty in the Department of English at Bowling Green (Ohio) State University. She is editor-in-chief of the department’s literary journal Mid-American Review, which is dedicated to publishing contemporary fiction, poetry, nonfiction and translations.
A longtime advisor for the Graduate Writers Club at BGSU, Cloud also advises Prairie Margins, the undergraduate literary journal published by this student organization.
Cloud is a native of Bath, Michigan. She has a B.A. in English from Michigan State University and earned her MFA in creative writing from BGSU.
Cloud’s first book of poetry, Sylph, won the Lena-Miles Wever Todd Prize and was published by Pleiades Press in 2014. Her poetry has also appeared in Pleiades, Gettysburg Review, Cincinnati Review, Copper Nickel and other literary journals.
Cloud’s presentations at Bethel are free and open to the public.
