NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – When the women’s a cappella ensemble at Bethel College, Woven, gives their last concert of the school year, it will include some guests.
The concert is May 8 at 7 p.m. in Memorial Hall and is free and open to the public.
A special feature of this concert will be the presence of Open Road, the men’s a cappella ensemble, to perform three numbers with the women in a group they’re calling “Woven Road.”
This will also be the final Woven concert for three seniors: Karina Ortman, Marion, South Dakota, Alli Rudeen, Osage City, and Michelle Unruh, Goessel.
Other members of Woven are Lisa Goering, Lawrence, Michelle Peachey, Manheim, Pennsylvania, Erin Regier, Newton, Abby Schrag, Newton, Jill Siebert, Topeka, and Georgia Thiesen, Newton.
Among Woven’s numbers for the evening are several pieces in languages other than English; two songs from the women’s duo Ma Muse; two songs by Sara LaBarr based on poems by Sara Teasdale; and an arrangement of “Landslide” by Stevie Nicks.
The concert ends with the traditional “Parting Glass,” an arrangement by the Wailin’ Jennys.
