Jordan Ortman to give senior piano recital

NORTH NEWTON, KAN.– Bethel College student Jordan Ortman, Freeman, S.D., will give his senior piano recital Saturday, April 27, at 6 p.m. in the Administration Building chapel.

Ortman will graduate from Bethel in May with a degree in music. He is a student of Karen Bauman Schlabaugh, Bethel College professor of music.

Ortman’s recital program will be Prelude and Fugue in G minor by Bach; “Polichinelle” by Rachmaninoff; “L’isle Joyeuse” by Debussy; “Mazurka No. 19 in B minor,” “Berceuse in D-flat major” and “Etude No. 5 in G-flat major” by Chopin; and Violin Sonata in A major by Franck.

Nancy Johnson, Bethel adjunct instructor of violin, will join Ortman for the Franck.

At Bethel, Ortman is a member of, and frequent accompanist for, the Bethel College Concert Choir.

He is a 2009 graduate of Freeman Academy and the son of Lori and Mark Ortman of Freeman.

The recital is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in The Meeting Place, on the ground floor of the Ad Building.
