Bethel announces football signings

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Since arriving at Bethel College late last year, new head football coach Marty Mathis and his assistants have been hard at work.

Feb. 6, a national “signing day” in football for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, Chi-Emeke Worthington, co-defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator, announced the 2013 signing class:

Mathis came to Bethel after seven years as an assistant coach for the Marian University Knights, Indianapolis, who ended the 2012 regular season at 8-1 and ranked #5 in the NAIA, and finished the post-season as NAIA national champions.

At Bethel, Mathis follows interim coach Jim Dotson.

Bethel College is the only private college in Kansas listed in the 2012-13 Forbes.com analysis of premier colleges and universities in the United States and ranks in the top five “Best Baccalaureate Colleges” in the Washington Monthly annual college guide for 2012-13. The four-year liberal arts college is affiliated with Mennonite Church USA.
