Bethel art majors featured in final gallery exhibit of year

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – The annual Bethel College Senior Art Exhibit opened Friday, May 4, with a reception for the three student artists to be held during Commencement Weekend.

Student artwork includes ceramics, jewelry, painting and photography, on display in the Fine Arts Center Gallery on the Bethel College campus.

Erica Buller, Lenexa, is showing ceramics and jewelry. She will graduate May 20 with a bachelor of arts degree in art. She is the daughter of Carol and Stan Buller of Lenexa.

Rashell Kaufman, Moundridge, is showing paintings. She will graduate May 20 with a B.A. in art. She is the daughter of Cheri and Larry Kaufman of Moundridge.

Derrick Law, Galva, is showing photography. He will graduate May 20 with a B.A. in art and biology. He is the son of Jon and Tammy Law of Galva.

The three are students of David Long, professor of art, Rachel Epp Buller, assistant professor of art, and Gail Lutsch, professor emeritus of art.

The seniors’ exhibit will be open through Sunday, May 20. There will be an artists’ reception Friday, May 18, from 6-8 p.m. outside the gallery, to which the public is welcome.

Regular gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday afternoons from 2-4 p.m. There is no admission charge.

Bethel College is the only private, liberal arts college in Kansas listed in the 2011-12 analysis of top colleges and universities in the United States and is the highest-ranked Kansas college in the Washington Monthly annual college guide for 2011-12.
