Parker Stanley returns to campus for recital with friends

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Bethel College alumnus and cellist Parker Stanley, now pursuing graduate studies in music at the University of Iowa, returns to campus for a concert with several of his friends.

The event will take place Friday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m. in the Bethel College chapel and is free and open to the public.

“The focus will be on works that involve collaborative effort,” Stanley says. Joining him will be fellow University of Iowa graduate students Anna Draper and Emily Rolka, violin, Jessica Altfillisch, viola, and Allison Bechtum, piano.

Among the pieces in their repertoire are Haydn’s “‘Joke’ Quartet,” Schoenberg’s “Suite for Piano,” Dodson’s “Cello Etude,” violin sonatas by Brahms and Elgar and Bach’s “Suite in G major.”

Bethel College is a four-year liberal arts college affiliated with Mennonite Church USA.
