Bethel jazz musicians named to statewide band

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. -- Four Bethel College students have been named to the 2005 Kansas Intercollegiate Jazz Band. Ten colleges and universities across Kansas nominated the students who were selected as band members and alternates. The only school to have more than four students selected was Wichita State University with five. Pittsburg State University also had four students selected.

The Bethel students are juniors Aaron Linscheid, North Newton, trumpet and Jerel Fast, Boulder, Colo., trombone and senior Matt Steinmetz, Bluffton, Ohio, guitar, with junior Zack Gingrich-Gaylord, Wichita, piano, chosen as an alternate.

The Intercollegiate Jazz Band will perform at the Kansas Bandmasters Association convention in Wichita, which will take place July 13-16.
