Bethel College Concert Choir to give "home concert"

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. -- The 52-voice Bethel College Concert Choir will present its annual home concert at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 3 in Memorial Hall on the North Newton campus. Admission is free and open to the public. The choir will perform contemporary choral works by Jan Sandstrom, Javier Busto and Ramon Noble, with additional arrangements of spirituals by Moses Hogan and Norman Luboff. In addition, the choir will sing two pieces by Mennonite composer Kathryn Peters, along with works of Mendelssohn, di Lasso and J.S. Bach.

The Concert Choir is under the direction of William Eash, professor of music. Russell Adrian, senior from Butterfield, Minn., is assistant conductor.

The Memorial Hall concert will come at the end of a week-long tour of the Northwestern United States, scheduled for March 24-April 3. The choir will sing in several Mennonite congregations in Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Nebraska, and will be featured at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Seattle on Easter Sunday evening.

The Concert Choir represents Bethel College through its extensive and vigorous concert schedule, including an annual tour to various parts of the United States. The choir has visited France, Switzerland, Germany and Sweden. It has performed in the Berliner Dome and the Stockholm Cathedral, as well as the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City and the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis, Minn.
