Kauffman Museum to open special exhibition Feb. 20

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. -- Kauffman Museum will open the special exhibition "The Art of Sharing, The Sharing of Art: Responses to Mennonite Relief in Postwar Germany" Sunday, Feb. 20. The exhibition will run through May 29. "The Art of Sharing, The Sharing of Art" is composed of artifacts and 22 prints given by the German government as official thanks gifts to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in recognition of its postwar relief work. The exhibition, a reworking of a 1984 exhibition put together by Reinhild Kauenhoven Janzen, commemorates the 50th anniversary of MCC’s receiving the Dankspende artworks.

Educational programs are planned for later this spring.

Kauffman Museum is located at the corner of Main and 27th streets. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $1.50 for children ages 6-16 and $3 for adults.
