Annual King Day celebration set for January 17 at Bethel College

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. -- Dr. Howard Shipp, director of multicultural development at Oklahoma State University, will be the keynote speaker for Bethel College’s annual observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 17. Entertainment will be provided by the Bethel College Gospel Duet, the Newton Performing Arts Center, Ultimate Martial Arts of Newton, the family music group Webb 3 from Newton and the Wichita B-Boys.

The evening’s activities start at 6:30 p.m. with a symbolic march from Northridge Elementary School in Newton to the Bethel campus. Other events begin at 7 p.m. in Krehbiel Auditorium in the Fine Arts Center.

All events are free and open to the public.
