HESSTON, KAN. -- Kansas Brass Quintet has thrilled audiences in Kansas and the Midwest for more than 30 years. On Friday, Jan. 21, they will travel to Hesston to present the third concert in the 2004-05 Hesston-Bethel Performing Arts (HBPA) season at 7:30 p.m. in Hesston College's Yost Center. Ensemble members Stephen Leisring, Justin White, Paul Stevens, Michael Hall, and Scott Watson will present a concert titled "Dazzling Brass." Featured selections range from "Variations on a Spiritual" by William Schmidt to "Questa e Quella" from Verdi's Rigoletto to works by Nelson Riddle and Wynton Marsalis.

"Brass music always generates a lot of excitement because of the many stylistic periods of music available for brass players," said Jake Rittenhouse, HBPA chair. "This concert should appeal to most every taste in brass music due to the variety of selections being performed by the outstanding caliber of players represented in the Kansas Brass Quintet."

The concert is presented in part by the Kansas Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Kansas Brass Quintet has performed at the national conventions of a variety of music educators organizations. Their CD--Rare Breeds and Dog-Eared Classics--features a variety of chamber and solo works. Each member teaches in the Department of Music and Dance at the University of Kansas (Lawrence).

Tickets are $12 to $15 with discounts available for students and senior citizens. Dinner and show tickets are available for $25 per person, featuring chicken supreme with rice before the show in the Hesston College dining hall in Bontrager Student Center.
