Nguyen to present senior chemistry seminar

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. -- Bethel College student Dennis Nguyen, Wichita, will present his senior seminar entitled "Feasibility Studies for the Determination of Homocysteine" at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, in room 121 of Krehbiel Science Center on the North Newton campus. The public is invited. Nguyen, a senior chemistry major, will discuss homocysteine plasma levels, which if elevated, can contribute to cancer, cardiovascular disease, blood clots and strokes. Richard P. Zerger, professor of chemistry, served as his project advisor.

Nguyen’s research was conducted under the 2004 Summer Undergraduate Research Program of the University of Kansas Pharmaceutical Chemistry department.

Nguyen is the son of Khanh Dinh Nguyen and Hang Thi Pham of Wichita.
