Janzen to give senior guitar recital

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. -- Bethel College student Chris Janzen, Fresno, Calif., will present his senior guitar recital at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 22 in the drama lab of the Fine Arts Center on the North Newton campus. Admission is free and open to the public. Janzen, a senior art major and music minor, is the student of Craig Owens, adjunct instructor of music. Janzen's recital will include new arrangements of works by Bill Frisell and David Liebman. In addition, Janzen will perform seven original compositions, which sample Bela Bartok and R. Vaughn Williams. These original compositions correspond to Janzen's paintings currently on display with the senior art show in the Fine Arts Center Gallery.

Accompanying Janzen are senior Tory A. Doerksen, Prescott Valley, Ariz., on bass; junior Jesse Overright, Normal, Ill., on drums; and freshmen Jerel Ren Fast, Boulder, Colo., on trombone; Zachary Ray Gingerich-Gaylord, Newton, on keyboard; Jeff Janzen, Fresno, Calif., on vocals and melodica; and Aaron Linscheid, North Newton, on trumpet.

Janzen is the son of Rod and Deb Janzen of Fresno, Calif.
