Bethel College music performance major to present senior recital

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. -- Bethel College student Matt Esau will present his senior recital at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 8 in the Bethel College Administration Building Chapel. Esau, a music performance major from Hillsboro, will perform on the upright bass and electric bass. Admission is free and open to the public. Classical selections on the recital are "Minuet" by Beethoven, accompanied by pianist Sara Adrian, Butterfield, Minn., and "Gigue" from Suite No.1 for Solo Cello by Bach.

Jazz selections on the recital are "Eighty-One" by Miles Davis, "Naima" by John Coltrane, "Well You Needn't" by Thelonius Monk, "September Song" by Maxwell Anderson and Kurt Weill and "There Will Never Be Another You" by Harry Warren and Mack Gordon. Members of the jazz group accompanying Esau will be guitarist Chris Janzen from Fresno, Calif., percussionist Jesse Overright from Normal, Ill., and trombonist Jerel Fast from Boulder, Colo. Esau's instructors are Stephen Jones and Eric Crawford.

Esau is the son of LaVerne and Linda Esau of Hillsboro.
