NORTH NEWTON, KAN. -- Kauffman Museum and First Bank of Newton are accepting registrations for two bus tours planned to Abilene and north central Kansas. The tours are the final trips during 2003-04 to destinations in the Sunflower State. The tours are open to the public. Tuesday, May 11 is the "A to Z Abilene Adventure." The tour will include stops at the Eisenhower Presidential Center and Seelye Mansion, a Brookville Restaurant lunch aboard the Smoky Valley excursion train, afternoon tea at the Kirby House and a stop at the Russell Stover Candy Factory. Registrations for the Abilene trip are due May 3.
Wednesday and Thursday, June 2 and 3 the "Post Rock and Limestone Church Adventure" will head to north central Kansas. On this tour participants will see the Lincoln County Courthouse as well as the Vonada Stone Company in Sylvan Grove, the Lucas Grassroots Arts Center where a catered lunch will be served, the Barbed Wire Museum in LaCrosse and a number of limestone churches, including Victoria's Cathedral of the Plains. In Hays the group will stay overnight and visit the Sternberg Museum, the Volga-German House and the Pete Felton Stone Gallery. Reservations for this tour should be received by May 18.
