NORTH NEWTON, KAN. -- The Bethel College Repertory Studio theater group will present an original, experimental theater performance entitled "Boundary Crossings." Performances are set for 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 16 and 17 in Krehbiel Auditorium of the Fine Arts Center on the North Newton campus. Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and students. The production examines what happens when boundaries of campus social groupings, gender prescriptions, lifestyle expectations or political and cultural norms are crossed.
"College students are continually exploring new territories in academic, personal, social and political life," John McCabe-Juhnke said. "We want to explore the challenges, risks and rewards of moving into unfamiliar spheres of experience." McCabe-Juhnke, professor of communication arts, directs the theater group.
The Bethel College Repertory Studio theater group includes sophomores Sara Anne Hobbs, Newton; and Kurtzs R. Holbert, Jr., Fort Worth, Texas; and freshmen Amy Castle, Gardner; Jacqui-Ann Jackson, St. Catherine, Jamaica; and Shawn Michael Rath, Moundridge. Sophomore Rachel Hetzke, Pawnee Rock, is assistant to the director. Brent Noel, assistant professor of communication arts, will serve as technical director.
