Bethel College May Concert to be heard on Radio Kansas Dec. 19

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Radio Kansas will air a performance by the Bethel College Oratorio Chorus and Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19 on KHCC. The airing is a recording of a concert presented May 4 at Bethel College in North Newton. The program included Beethoven’s "Overture to Egmont" and Haydn’s "Missa Solemnis in B Flat (Harmoniemesse)." Conductor was William Eash, director of choirs at Bethel College.

Soloists for the Haydn piece were Bethel College alumni Pauline Buller, soprano from Hillsboro; Hannah Neufeld, alto from Inman; Ron Garber, tenor from Hesston; and Chris Kliewer, bass from Wichita.

Singers in the Oratorio Chorus included 90 members of Bethel College choral groups as well as 45 singers from area communities. The 44-piece Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra comprised of professionals, Bethel College students and community musicians.
