Seek. Serve. Grow.

I love the community here at Bethel. I knew I’d have great classes, but I never thought I would stumble upon a whole new family when I came to college. You can count on everyone to lend a helping hand.

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. - Bethel College President E. LaVerne Epp announces new appointments at the North Newton college to fill leadership roles in marketing and enrollment. LaVonne Mullet, Hesston, began June 2 as vice president of Marketing and Enrollment and will serve on the college’s Administrative Cabinet.

Allan Bartel, Colorado Springs, Colo., has accepted an appointment as director of Admissions and Enrollment. He started June 23.

"LaVonne and Allan bring wonderful gifts of leadership to Bethel College," says President E. LaVerne Epp. "I am pleased to welcome them both."

Mullet comes to the Bethel College position with expertise in marketing and business strategy. As an independent consultant, she has served Bethel College and other colleges and businesses in developing marketing plans. From 1985 to 1998 she worked at Compaq Computer Corporation, Houston, Texas, where she held several upper-level management positions. She grew up in Iowa, earned degrees at Hesston College and Montana State University and also worked in sales for seven years in Oregon.

"LaVonne’s work in the private sector and her understanding of Mennonite higher education are a plus for Bethel College at this time. Her extensive sales and marketing experience as well as her work in planning will help us reenergize Bethel’s marketing strategies as well as identify and enroll student populations appropriate to Bethel College," Epp says.

Bartel served as general manager and director of sales and marketing at The Bridge Assisted Living in Colorado Springs, Colo. For 19 years he was executive director of Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp, Divide, Colo., and for seven years filled several leadership roles at Ausable Springs, Inc., London, Ont. He grew up in Kansas, completed his bachelor’s degree at Bethel College in 1973 and has training in sales, marketing and management.

"Allan brings new energy to our student recruitment focus at Bethel College," Epp says. "He is a parent, an alumnus, a former athlete of the college. He knows many of the college’s natural constituencies."

Bartel is married to Susan (Gaeddert) Bartel and is father of Nathan Bartel, a 2002 graduate, and Megan Bartel, who is a Bethel College senior art major.

"Both of these people have a love for Mennonite colleges and the church. They have ties to this area. Their complementary gifts and abilities will offer Bethel College the opportunity to reenergize Bethel’s marketing strategies and student enrollment over the next few years," Epp says.
