NORTH NEWTON, KAN. - Bethel College has named leaders for its sports campaign. Preliminary plans for the campaign include the development of an on-campus football stadium around the current Schmidt Track, a lighted soccer field, new areas for field events for track, and parking for more than 500 cars. Co-chairs for the sports campaign are Brett Birky, Denver, Colo.; Lorene (Dick) Goering, Halstead; Lisa Habegger Loganbill, Hesston; and Ray Penner, North Newton.

Named to the executive committee are Becki (Schmidt) Dick, Baldwin City; Cynthia Alexander Doyle, Indianapolis, Ind.; George Leary, North Newton; David K. Penner, Walton; Marlan Ratzlaff, Moundridge; Eric Rhoades, Olney, Md.; and Howard Schmidt, Newton.

Endorsement chairs are Stan Brodhagen, North Newton; Varden Loganbill, Moundridge; Joe Robb, Newton; George Rogers, Newton; John R. Suderman, Newton; and Diane Flickner, Bethel College athletic director.

The campaign leaders met on campus in March and set goals and developed strategies for the sports campaign. As Bethel moves into the leadership gifts phase of the campaign, this group will assist Bethel College advancement staff and provide direction for the campaign.

"This is an outstanding group of leaders, persons with great energy and enthusiasm for Bethel College and for the college's sports campaign. I look forward to working with all of them," says Sondra Koontz, who is directing the campaign for the college. "This leadership team envisions a sports complex that will connect students, alumni and the community to Bethel College."
