NORTH NEWTON, KAN. - Bethel College Board of Directors met March 6-8 on campus. The time together included a dinner with faculty and staff, small group discussions with panels of faculty and students, reports from administrators and faculty and a facilitated discussion on church-college relations. "The planning that we did in these business sessions in areas of recruitment, student life and retention, budget building and fund-raising demonstrates our confidence and creates momentum for Bethel’s future," President E. LaVerne Epp said following the meetings.

Twenty-six members attended the spring meetings, including new member Marco Guete of Cedar Hills, Texas.

The board reelected officers to second terms. They include chair Dee Gaeddert of St. Paul, Minn.; vice-chair Ray Penner of Newton; secretary Delon Martens of Haven; and treasurer John Penner of Plymouth, Neb.

In other action, the board promoted Jon K. Piper to professor of biology. David S. Janzen was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of computer science. William Eash, professor of music, was granted tenure.
