Bethel College

Families and Friends

Welcome new families, parents and friends to our Community

It is an honor to have the opportunity to guide your student through the next stages of their education. We understand transitioning your student to college can be both exciting and stressful. We have created a resource page with vital information to help put your mind at ease.

Whether you are bringing your student in as a fall athlete, a new freshman, or a transfer student, you can meet with Bethel College administrators to welcome you to campus and address any questions or concerns you may have as your student joins the Thresher Community.

  • Fall Athlete family and friends are invited to attend a welcome panel, with a reception to follow, on August 4th at 3pm in Memorial Hall.
  • Family and friends of all new students are invited to attend a welcome and panel on August 12th at 4pm in Memorial Hall.
  • Family and friends of transfer students are welcome to attend Thresher Transfer Orientation on August 15th from 2-3pm in the Mantz Library Lounge.

If you have any questions before you arrive at Bethel College, please get in touch with the Office of Student Life at (316) 284-5324 or email us at studentlife@bethelks.edu

Host Family Information

Bethel’s Host Family program can help you settle your student into college life and help ensure a smooth transition to being a Thresher. Host families will welcome your student into their home and family life and to the Newton community. The local host family may:

  • be your “home away from home” and support your student at athletic, music and theater events you are involved in;
  • entertain your student for an occasional home-cooked meal;
  • provide periodic opportunities to get away from campus on weekends or over short breaks when returning home isn’t possible;
  • welcome your family when they visit you on campus.

The support and affirmation from your host family can play a critical role in a successful college experience. Many students develop relationships with their host families that last years after graduation. Encourage your student to take advantage of this opportunity by completing this form.

Parent Association Information

The Bethel College Parents Association supports students and recognizes parents as vital college community members. The association sponsors many events each year, including:

  • Meet & Greet for new students and parents
  • Annual Bubberts Spring Fling Dessert reception
  • Fall Festival
  • Walking Tacos & Game nights

The Parents Association is governed by a council composed of parents from students of each class. The council works closely with the Office of Student Life. To help and support the needs of Bethel College students, please feel free to contact Joan Entz, Council President, via email at jentz@bethelks.edu.
