Broadway at Bethel summer camp to present "Brigadoon"

NORTH NEWTON, KAN.- Broadway at Bethel Music Theater Camp will present the Lerner and Loewe musical "Brigadoon" at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 29 in Krehbiel Auditorium at Bethel College, North Newton. Admission is $5. All seating is general admission. Inspired by a German story, the plot of "Brigadoon" focuses on two American tourists in the Scottish Highlands who find a village that comes alive one day every 100 years. Songs in the show include "Almost Like Being in Love," "Waitin' for My Dearie" and "I'll Go Home with Bonnie Jean."

Singers and dancers for the show this year are 51 junior high and high school students from Kansas, Texas and Colorado who will come to the Bethel College campus June 22 for the one-week summer camp. Parts are assigned after try-outs at the start of the week and by the end of the week, a full-length musical is ready to be performed, according to the show's producer Kathryn Kasper.

Other instructors for the week are John McCabe-Juhnke, Brent Noel, Arlo Kasper, Annette Thornton, Cathy Crispino and Rich Toevs.
