NORTH NEWTON, KAN. Bethel College in North Newton announces the hiring of new faculty and staff. New teaching faculty
Amy Barker, campus pastor and instructor for the youth ministry courses, is a 2002 graduate of Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, Ind. Barker brings a variety of work and ministry experiences to her position. She was involved in several different denominational traditions before joining the Mennonite Church. She has a passion for youth, teaching, worship and music.
Christopher M. Earles is assistant professor of mathematics. He completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics at Idaho State University and was granted a doctoral degree in mathematics at Rice University last spring. He has taught courses at Idaho State and Rice universities.
Christopher Koch, assistant professor of music, completed his bachelor's degree in flute performance and music education at Eastman School of Music and master's degrees in flute performance and orchestral conducting at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He completed his doctorate in conducting at the University of Washington last June. He has national and international experience as a flutist, conductor and music director, including positions in Washington, Colorado, New York, Kansas City and Australia.
Nancy Lugo-Baez, instructor in nursing, graduated from Newman University with an associate of arts in nursing degree in 1994 and from Southwestern College with a bachelor of science in nursing degree in 1999. She worked in labor, delivery and newborn care at Via Christi-Riverside Medical Center in Wichita until September 2002 and since then has worked in the medical/surgical unit. She was an adjunct instructor last year at Bethel.
Lisa Ann Young, a 1995 Bethel College graduate, is assistant professor of nursing. She completed her master's degree in nursing at Wichita State University in 2000 and is a certified nurse practitioner. Young is an advanced registered nurse practitioner with Kansas Nephrology Physicians and a registered nurse in the medical intensive care unit at Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis in Wichita.

New staff members include Adam Akers, grounds and road assistant; Royce Flaming, mechanical technician; Megan Goering, admissions counselor; Tiffany Nusz, admissions counselor; Clark Oswald, admissions counselor; Jeff Roberson, network administrator; Erin Schmidt, communications coordinator; Luke Schmidt, audio visual and technical support; Ben Schrag, accounting analyst; Eric Schrag, associate director of development; and Deanna and Jeremy Wisdom, Haury Hall resident directors.
