NORTH NEWTON, KAN. A weekend of dance Nov. 21 to 23 at Bethel College in North Newton will celebrate biblical themes. Performers from Bethel College Dance Ensemble and the Oklahoma Dance Theatre will present concerts in Krehbiel Auditorium, Fine Arts Center. Tiffany Jefferson directs both performing groups. Admission to each concert is $5; children under five will be admitted free of charge. Bethel College Dance Ensemble will present the Kansas Christian Dance Festival at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 21 and 22. "The program will include an eclectic array of dances that celebrate life and the Lord," says Tiffany Jefferson, who teaches dance at the college. Ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, spiritual and clogging styles of dance will be highlighted. Bethel College Dance Ensemble members are sophomore Kara M. Schmidt from North Newton; senior Sara O. Flaming from Newton; junior Leah Larson from Clay Center; senior Jana M. Petersheim from Morgantown, Pa.; junior Bethany Joy Amstutz from Goessel; freshman Heather Linscheid from Fresno, Calif.; sophomore Janelle Renae Steiner from Albany, Ore.; junior Greta J. Steingard from Henderson, Neb.; sophomore Lauren Gillis from Colorado Springs, Colo.; junior Anna Weaverdyck from Ann Arbor, Mich.; junior Anastassia Tikhonova from Moscow, Russia; senior Amanda Dick from Bloomington, Ill.; and senior Maria Tschetter from Freeman, S.D.
Oklahoma Dance Theatre, a dance troupe of children and adults from Sand Springs, Okla., will present "The Dance of Egypt" at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 23. The story of Moses will be told through dance and drama and is an adaptation of the animated movie "The Prince of Egypt." The dance is sponsored by the Bethel College Dance Ensemble and Student Activities Board.
Oklahoma Dance Theatre is a non-profit organization co-founded by Tiffany Jefferson and Rita Rigsby. The dance theatre is a touring company which integrates professional, collegiate, amateur and child dancers.
