Bethel announces reduced hours for the holidays

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Bethel College announces changes in hours for the end of fall semester and through the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, beginning Dec. 10.

Kauffman Museum will have normal hours – Tues.-Fri., 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Sat. and Sun. 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m., closed Mon. – through Friday, Dec. 23.

Changed hours are: closed Saturday, Dec. 24, and Sunday, Dec. 25; open Monday, Dec. 26; closed Saturday, Dec. 31, and Sunday, Jan. 1.

“It’s rare that we are open on a Monday,” said Andi Andres, curator of education at the museum, “but we thought people might be out and about on the day after Christmas so we’ll be open on Monday the 26th. We hope visitors can take advantage of this and bring their family and friends.”

Regular hours resume Jan. 3.

Admission to the current special exhibition “Memory Matters: Works by Gesine Janzen” as well as the permanent exhibits “Of Land and People,” “Mirror of the Martyrs” and “Mennonite Immigrant Furniture” is $4 for adults, $2 for children ages 6-16, and free to Kauffman Museum members and children under 6. The museum store is open the same hours as the museum (no admission charge for just visiting the store).

Thresher Shop in Schultz Student Center will have reduced holiday hours beginning Monday, Dec. 12. The store will be open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays through Thursday, Dec. 22. Friday, Dec. 23, and Dec. 26-30, the store is closed. Regular hours (Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) resume Monday, Jan. 2.

Mantz Library is closed on weekends starting Saturday, Dec. 10, until the beginning of January. Reduced Christmas break hours are 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. weekdays through Thursday, Dec. 22. Friday, Dec. 23, and Dec. 26-30, the library is closed. It will reopen Monday, Jan. 2, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and resume regular hours Jan. 3.

Mojo’s Coffee Shop, also located in Schultz Student Center, will have changed hours over the holidays as well.

Dec. 12-23, Mojo’s is open Mon.-Fri., 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Sat., 7 a.m.-5 p.m. The shop may be open the morning of Dec. 24, will be closed Dec. 25, and open Monday, Dec. 26, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Watch the Mojo’s Facebook page for Christmas Eve hours, New Year’s Eve hours, and hours Dec. 27-30, when it may be closed for reconstruction of the bar.

Reduced hours continue into January during Bethel’s interterm, due to low staffing: Mon.-Fri., 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sat., 7 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Bethel campus is closed Dec. 23-Jan. 1. All buildings will be locked except for the Administration Building during regular business hours and the Schultz Student Center entrances to Mojo’s.
