Greer Fine Arts Visiting Artist Series

This fine arts endowment was established at Bethel College in memory of Milford E. Greer, Jr., a native of Geuda Springs, Kansas, who was interested in literature and music and excelled as an artist. He died in an auto accident in 1972 at the age of 45.

Dr. and Mrs. Robert C. Goering of Wichita, close friends of Greer, initiated the endowment, which brings visiting artists and scholars to the campus in the areas of music, visual arts or theater. Dr. Goering, a 1948 graduate of Bethel College and a native of Moundridge, earned his M.D. degree from the University of Mexico, where he met and married his wife, Amparo. Dr. Goering served as a clinical pathologist at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita until his death in 1982.

Greer Visiting Artists come from around the country to conduct workshops with students, put on concerts, performances and exhibitions, and give public presentations to the community.

Trustees to plan the endowed programs are John McCabe-Juhnke, professor of communication arts, David Long, professor of art, and William Eash, professor of music.
