Two-sport athlete signs with Bethel
NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Two Bethel College coaches announce the signing of a two-sport athlete from Mulvane.
Elise Gerlach will transfer from Cowley Community College in Winfield to become a Bethel Thresher.
Gerlach, who played basketball at Cowley last season, will play for both the Lady Threshers soccer and basketball teams next year.
“We’re extremely excited to be bringing Elise into our family,” said Mark Fox, women’s basketball head coach. “It took a year longer than we planned, but we’re happy to have it happening now.
“We recruited her hard out of high school. After a year at Cowley County, she was ready to look again and we were more than happy to visit with her again about the possibility of Bethel.
“Elise brings incredibly quick feet and a high motor to the floor. Additionally, she brings the ability to stretch the defense while also being able to create her own shot or create opportunities for others. With one year of college basketball in the incredibly tough Jayhawk Conference, we look for her to come in and contribute right away.”
Coach Tony Turini is equally excited to have Gerlach joining his women’s soccer team.
“We are very happy to add Elise to our roster,” he said. “We believe that she can come in and make an immediate impact on the Thresher soccer program.
“We struggled to score goals last year. Elise is an offensive-minded player who will help us create more scoring opportunities next season.”Back to News
