NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Bethel College student Renee Reimer, Sioux Falls, S.D., will give her senior voice recital Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Administration Building chapel.
Reimer will graduate from Bethel in May 2014 with a degree in music with education licensure. She is a student of Soyoun Chun, Bethel College assistant professor of music and instructor of voice.
Reimer’s recital program will include works by Brahms, Debussy, Rossini, Obradors and Jason Robert Brown, with selections from l’Italiana in Algeri, Little Women and Songs for a New World.
Reimer’s accompanist will be Karen Bauman Schlabaugh, Bethel professor of music. She will also be joined by guest musicians Rebecca Schloneger, North Newton, and Rachel Unruh, Newton, on violins, Bethel student Erin Regier on viola and Andrew Voth, North Newton, on cello.
At Bethel, Reimer is a member of the Bethel College Concert Choir and the women’s a cappella ensemble Woven. She has appeared in several music theater productions, most recently as “Martha” in the Fall Festival 2012 musical, The Secret Garden. She is also a keyboard player and vocalist for Bethel College Jazz Ensemble II and plays percussion in the Bethel College Wind Ensemble.
In early 2013, Reimer performed the one-woman play My Name is Rachel Corrie at Bethel and in the larger community and took it on the road in July to the Mennonite convention in Phoenix and to churches in California and South Dakota.
Reimer is a 2009 graduate of Washington High School in Sioux Falls and is the daughter of Rosie Epp and Ray Reimer of Elbing.
The recital is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in The Meeting Place, on the ground floor of the Ad Building.
