Women’s basketball announces signing of Rachel Green

NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Bethel College women’s basketball staff is happy to announce the signing of Rachel Green to the team this season.

Green comes to Bethel from Berkner High School in Dallas. A 5'4" guard, she was named Freshman of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore, and as a senior made First Team All-District.

Green said she is “very thankful to be attending Bethel College [this] fall. I have been raised to work hard and succeed. And now I’m on my way to accomplishing my dreams and making my family happy.”

“Rachel is a young lady we found somewhat late in the recruiting year,” said Mark Fox, head coach, “but we’re very excited to bring her into our family. She had a great visit, and the girls really liked her.

“We were happy to see how her game fit into our team and how it might translate to this level. We feel like she has the potential, with time and work, to be a very good contributor for us. It will be fun to watch her growth over the next four years, both academically and athletically.”

Bethel College is the only private, liberal arts college in Kansas listed in the 2013-14 Forbes.com analysis of top colleges and universities in the United States. The four-year liberal arts college is affiliated with Mennonite Church USA.

In sports, Bethel competes in the 10-school Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and the National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics. For more information, see www.bethelks.edu and www.bethelthreshers.com.
