Jazz groups featured at Mojo’s Thursday live music night
NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – Bethel College’s Jazz Ensemble II and the newest Jazz Combo will be live at Mojo’s coffee shop April 4, starting at 7 p.m.
Jazz Combo II, just formed this school year, and Jazz Ensemble II will perform standards from the big band and be-bop era.
“There will be some great vocal work from Renee Reimer, too,” added James Pisano, associate professor of music, who directs all Bethel jazz ensembles.
Jazz Combo II personnel are Carl Lehmann, junior from Marion, S.D., and Danny Barrera, junior from Newton, on saxophone; Issei Tsuji, sophomore from Chiba-Shi, Japan, on trombone; Tim Regier, freshman from Newton, on trumpet; Jordan Ortman, senior from Marion, S.D., on keyboard; Rachel Evans, senior from Bel Aire, on bass; and Adam Voth, junior from Wichita, on drums.
Jazz Ensemble II personnel are Abram Rodenberg, senior from Halstead, and Andrew Unruh, senior from Valley Center, saxophones; Jessie Pohl, junior from Moundridge, bassoon; Ethan Knight, sophomore from Moundridge, and Andrew Ewy, freshman from Parlier, Calif., trumpets; Renee Reimer, senior from Sioux Falls, S.D., keyboard and vocals; Joe Kondziola, junior from North Newton, bass; and Adam Voth, drums.
