Yoder will graduate from Bethel in May with a degree in communication arts. She is a student of Soyoun Chun, Bethel College instructor of voice.

Yoder’s recital program will include “V’adoro, Pupille” from Giulio Cesare by Handel; three movements from Poulenc’s song cycle “Fiançailles pour rire”; “Regnava nel silenzio” from Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti; “Der Hirt auf dem Felsen” by Schubert; six of Maury Yeston’s “December Songs”; and “The Girl in 14G” by Jeanine Tesori/Dick Scanlan.

Yoder’s accompanist is Rich Toevs, Newton. She will also be joined by guest musicians Jordan Ortman, senior from Marion, S.D., on piano, and Joel Boettger, senior from Hesston, on clarinet.

At Bethel, Yoder is a member of the Concert Choir and of the women’s a cappella group Woven. She also performs with Maggie Goering, senior from Hutchinson, in an acoustic duo called The Sirens.

Yoder is a frequent soloist with the Concert Choir, and last spring had a lead role as “Laurie” in Bethel’s production of the Aaron Copland opera The Tender Land.

Yoder is from Kalona, Iowa, and is a 2009 graduate of Iowa Mennonite School. She is the daughter of Atlee and Carolyn Yoder of Kalona.

The recital is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in The Meeting Place, on the ground floor of the Ad Building.
