Letter from the vice president for admissions

I often get asked by prospective students: “Why should I consider Bethel College?” Let me share with you three solid reasons.

Most obvious: academic excellence. But don’t take my word for it. The 2011 edition of “America’s Top Colleges” published by U.S. News and World Report ranked Bethel in the top tier of the Best National Liberal Arts Colleges category.

A second reason: scholarships, grants and other financial aid. If you score 17 or more on the ACT test and have a 3.0 GPA in high school, you’ll qualify for academic scholarships beginning at $3,500 and going all the way up to $9,500 per year. There are no-interest or low-interest loans and work study options. Plus, if you are a Kansas resident, you may also be eligible for the Kansas Comprehensive Grant with its annual stipend of up to $3,500. Many students at Bethel pay no more than those attending state universities.

Finally, there are the opportunities for participation. There’s much more than outstanding academics to Bethel College. A galaxy of activity options is available – from varsity sports to intramurals to music and drama groups to more than 30 clubs and organizations. There are also spiritual life activities – planned and spontaneous – and campus events organized by the Student Activities Committee.

But rather than having me try to tell you about Bethel College, why not come check us out yourself? We welcome you for a visit – either during one of our visit weekends or at any time that is convenient for you. Schedule a visit now!

We look forward to seeing you at Bethel.
