Intentional Caring Community
"The biggest decision I have made was choosing between an independent college and a state university. My choice to attend Bethel College instead of a state university was a choice between a community of learning and being one of thousands of students. It was not until I arrived on campus that I realized how much of an advantage I had given myself by choosing the community" – Matthew Hershberger, Class of 2010
Bethel College’s caring community is evident in the classroom and around campus. With an average class size of 20 and a 9:1 student-faculty ratio, you will have many opportunities to engage in meaningful discussions with fellow students as well as faculty. In addition, many faculty are active in scholarly research and enlist students as collaborators in their research.
Besides in the classroom, students feel Bethel's community in the dorms, at the dinner table and on the sports teams. Host families are available to students whose homes are outside of Kansas, and students, faculty and staff regularly practice an attitude of service, caring for each other when needs arise.
