Clubs and Organizations

With more than 50 clubs and organizations on campus, your opportunities to participate in the life of campus is limited only by your imagination.

American Guild of Organists

Contact person: Roseann Penner Kaufman
A professional organization serving the organ and choral music fields. The group travels to organ recitals, sponsors a mini-pipe organ encounter to get youth interested in playing and attends the National Organization of the American Guild of Organists.

Amnesty International

Contact person: Merle Schlabaugh
A community-based chapter of AI open to students, faculty, staff and community members. Activities include writing letters to government officials of various countries protesting violations of human rights.

Bethel College Kansas Association of Nursing Students

Contact persons: Buffy Gatz, Marcy Thiesen
BC-KANS seeks to promote service projects, social change in nursing issues and develop professionalism.

Catholic Student Organization

Contact person: Nancy Lugo-Baez
This organization serves the needs of Catholic students and students interested in the Catholic faith.

Chess Club

Chess has grown in Kansas in recent years and Bethel chess club members have taken advantage of opportunities such as watching a match between world champions in Lindsborg, Kan.

Cinema Club

Shows movies regularly on campus. Great for anyone with an interest in artistic, independent and obscure films, or anyone who loves movies in general.

Climbing Club

Climbing Club sponsors rock climbing trips, and is also open to mountaineering and backpacking trips.

Clio (history club)

Bethel's history club which meets monthly. Open to anyone interested or inspired by the muse of history.

The Collegian

The Bethel Collegian is the student-run, free, bi-weekly newspaper consisting of campus events, personalities and issues. The Collegian welcomes writers and photographers from across campus and all perspectives to participate in the Collegian’s production.

Collegiate Music Educators National Conference (CMENC)

Open to all upper-class students planning to teach music.

Environmental Action Club

Contact person: Jon Piper
A local campus chapter promoting ecology and increasing awareness of preserving Earth's resources.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Contact person: Mark Yoder
Provides athletes and all students bi-weekly opportunities for fellowship, food and fun.

German Club

Contact person: Merle Schlabaugh
For promoting the German culture and language on campus. Anyone interested in learning about Germany or speaking German is welcome.

Intramurals

Throughout the year, intramural sports offers students many different opportunities to participate in sports on campus, everything from tennis and ping pong to flag football and 5-on-5 basketball.

International Association of Jazz Educators

A student organization that initiates programs to promote an understanding of jazz and provide assistance to educators.

KBCU-FM 88.1

Math Club

Metaphysical Club (philosophy)

Open to anyone with a casual or an academic interest in philosophy, the Metaphysical Club is a chance to think together about a wide range of topics, issues, practices, customs and perspectives.

Multicultural Organization

The club sponsors a number of social and educational events and membership is open to all members of the student body who have an interest in minority student issues.

Oxfam CHANGE Club

Oxfam Change Club seeks to create local change that has a global impact. They focus on the goals of Oxfam International, including raising awareness about global hunger, poverty and injustice and promoting fair trade.

Philosophy Club

This club is for persons interested in discussing the philosophical implications of a wide range of topics, issues, practices, customs and perspectives.

Pi Kappa Delta (forensics)

National honorary forensics society. All forensics students are encouraged to join.

Pre-Health Professions Club

Pre-Law Club

Psychology Colloquium

To disseminate knowledge of current research, practice, etc., and offer a forum for the discussion of such.

Sappho (women's issues)

Contact person: Ami Regier
An organization concerned with women's issues open to both women and men. Sappho seeks to discuss and promote the feminist perspective on sexuality, gender roles and other related issues.

Service Corps

This campus club is involved in local and state emergency disaster clean-up, low-income housing rehabilitation and other volunteer service programs. Each year this student-led group makes a difference in our community and in our world.

Student Activities Committee (SAC)

Creative - crazy - fun! You can join in planned activities every weekend at Bethel. SAC (Student Activities Committee) is the campus organization responsible for providing interesting and entertaining events for students. This committee is composed of 10-15 students and a staff advisor, and is funded through student fees. In the past SAC has sponsored anything from free tickets to local professional sporting events to trips to unique restaurants in the area. SAC has promoted on-campus concerts, coffeehouses and dances.

Student Alumni Association (SAA)

A leadership organization that builds relations with students and alumni to promote communication regarding careers and lifestyle decisions.

Student Community Action Network (SCAN)

Contact person: Larry Friesen
A student-run organization that provides the link between student volunteers and community services. SCAN organizes the bloodmobile, prison visitations and volunteer placement working with the youth, elderly and handicapped.

Student Senate

Senate is the student government on campus made up of representatives from every class as well as non-traditional students and other campus organizations. Senate is responsible for allocating funds to student clubs, organizing activities and advocating student rights on campus.

Students for Social Change

This group is concerned with peace and social justice, which seeks to examine and act on world problems on the micro and macro levels.

Student Social Work Organization

Open to all interested in social work and related topics. Members attend the State Social Work Conference, and do service projects for local service agencies.

Swing Dance Club

If you’re interested in learning how to swing dance, or any kind of dance, join Swing Dance Club.

The Thresher Yearbook

The Bethel yearbook, The Thresher, is open to journalism students and anyone with writing or photography experience.

Ultimate Club

Open to anyone interested in playing the Frisbee game, ULTIMATE!

Wichita Black Nurses Association

This is a student sub-committee of a local organization. It is dedicated to providing education, mentorship, empowerment and scholarships to nursing students.
